BFSGH
Bowtop Gypsy Wagon
The one, the only, BFSGH wagon
It's not *really* for sale, but if someone had to have a good wagon that is already in the USA, ready to go into shows and parades TODAY, this is the one! Prices on waggons like this are going up daily amongst the gypsy community.

(Look like they are driving down the wrong side of the road? That's
because they are! This is Jeff and Gary Smith on the road across England
in 2004 with our wagon.
See the events page for more pictures of the BFSGH Bowtop gypsy wagon. This history-making wagon is not really for sale, but if someone is interested in it, contact us and we can discuss.
This is the wagon that we use in parades and events all over the USA, and that we drove across England in 2004. It has won every competition event it's been presented in throughout the USA. This is the wagon that Jeff made history with, being the first American ever to drive a traditional "yoke" all the way to Appleby fair! This is the nicest, best condition, fanciest gypsy wagon in the USA today. It was built by Phillip Jowett in England, and painted by Yorkie Greenwood - One of the finest waggon painters in England today, whose work is highly respected. It is fully hand-carved and plated with 24 carat gold inside and out. Everywhere that looks like gold on this waggon, IS gold! We are pleased to have this waggon in our collection.
If you wanted to buy a waggon like this in the UK, you would need to be prepared to spend at least $100,000 US (dollars). In reality though, you would probably spend more. Finding someone with a waggon like this who would sell it is the difficult task. The demand for high-quality waggons and drays has never been higher. The waiting list to get a new waggon made goes out a number of years. The list is so long in-fact, that some Gypsies have actually sold their position in line in order to make some extra money. You may hear people say that you can get a waggon for less than ten thousand pounds. well, this is true, but you won't get a waggon like this. Instead, you'll get a small waggon with no carving, no gold, poorly painted, and made by an unknown builder who put it on an old dray with artillery wheels (inflatable wheels). These types of waggons have not risen much in value, because they are not treasured by the gypsy people. As I was learning about waggons, a Gypsy man said to me (upon pointing out one of the cheap waggons), "That's simply an embarrassment". That was his way of saying that it's better to be seen without a waggon, rather than a cheap one. I guess it's similar in this country to buying a car. You can buy cars for under $10,000, right? But you won't get a Bentley for that price. Well it's the same thing with waggons. Now my waggon is not the Rolls-Royce of waggons, but it is easily the Cadillac of waggons. Those cheap waggons may be suitable to some, but not for me, thank you.
This wagon is also prominently featured in the critically acclaimed book "Gypsy Horses and the Travelers Way" by John S Hockensmith. Click here for book details.
We can also provide other types of wagons at various prices. This one has great sentimental value, and is a very high-class wagon, ready to roll on the road today!
We can supply you with the whole kit and caboodle for you to drive this gypsy wagon in parades and events yourself! We have several "wagon broke" horses currently available for sale, as well as wagon harness. We'll even give instruction on the proper driving of a gypsy wagon!
Exterior shots of the wagon are all over the EVENTS PAGE, here are some interior shots.
