GYPSY
EXTRAVAGANZA!
Open House/Farm Sale
Dec 1-17, 2006

- Gypsy Extravaganza REPORT PAGE, click here!
The 2006 Open house event has passed, look for information on a possible 2007
open house event later in 2007.
Black
Forest Shires & Gypsy Horses is now fully moved and up & running in our new
facility, 40 miles north of Denver, Colorado at "Wildcat Ranch" in sunny
Platteville, Colorado. Our new facility has a huge, heated barn and arena with
all the amenities, and 207 acres along the beautiful St. Vrain River. To
celebrate the completion of our months-long move and transition, and because of
the record numbers of imported gypsy horses that we currently have available
on-farm, we are holding an open house from Dec 1-17, and a special events-filled
weekend on Dec 9 & 10, 2006.
In October, 2006, the largest number of gypsy cobs ever to enter North America
in one month was flown to the USA by BFSGH. These horses wouldn't all fit on one
flight, so over the course of three flights we imported nearly 90 horses in one
"batch". Over half of these horses are still available for sale, and will
all be in Colorado by the end of November, 2006. These, combined with the
somewhere-around 50-60 that we already have for sale on the farm, makes this a
huge opportunity for people in North America to see one of the largest herds of
this breed IN THE WORLD, of which most are for sale! There will be OVER
100 HORSES FOR SALE ON THE FARM AT SALE TIME! (Point of interest - It would be
very hard to find any herd of 100 gypsy horses for sale overseas or
anywhere in the world. This is a really special opportunity !)
Anyone can visit the farm at any time before the whole herd arrives back in
Colorado (as usual) and before our
arranged event, BUT, if you come to the farm between December 1st and 17th (this
encompasses 3 weekends) we will give a $500 credit on your account when you
purchase a horse/horses. This will pay for your trip to Colorado!
Multi-horse discounts always available, and even herd-discounts (these are
seriously discounted prices for large groups of horses).
BIG WEEKEND, DECEMBER 9-10 The
weekend of the 9-10 of December, we will do some fun gypsy cob events and host a
luncheon for attendees on the Saturday. We will give some driving demonstrations
with question and answer times, cob-grooming tips and tricks, showing tips and
suggestions, and even points to look for in choosing a good cob, with plenty of
horses to compare and judge for yourself. We may even do a bit of a breeding
demo with basic AI techniques and procedures outlined (if we get our lab
unpacked from our move to our south farm to our new farm north by that time).
Our traditional gypsy wagon will be on display and we will have several
traditional gypsy vehicles in action and available for show sale at this time as
well. All your gypsy-related questions will be answered by our team of
super-helpful staff. Colorado can have some wonderful weather in December, but
if the weather should change, we will be holding most events inside our large
heated indoor barn and arena, so rain or shine we will be having a great time!
SPECIAL RESERVED STOCK - We will have 100 horses for sale on the farm by the end of November, and at
least 30 of these will be held-back (no sale pictures online or offered for sale
on the web site) to assure that there is a great selection still available for
everyone attending the event over the 3 weekends. We will not be "auctioning"
horses here, available horses will be offered for sale and price lists provided,
but we will work in "gypsy fashion" - if a horse that you see that you like has
already been purchased by another buyer, we will help you to "bid profit" on
that horse with the buyer to see if you can buy the horse from him/her on the
spot. This is the way gypsies work "deals" and we find it can work wonderfully!
This way, even if a horse is spoken-for before you are able to attend, there is
still a chance that you will be able to take this one home with you! (more like
the way an auction would work).
LEGENDARY HORSES -
This is also a GREAT time to come and meet some of the legendary stallions in
the gypsy horse world, The Lion King, The Lottery Horse, and Nobby will all be
here, along with Galway Warrior, LK's Legacy, Rom Baro, and the rest. Our 19
hand imported champion shire stallion "Alfie" might be in town at that time,
depending on his work and training schedule.
A host hotel with blocks of rooms is reserved for that time-period, with a
special rate (link below). Denver International Airport is only 30
minutes away from the host hotel (and 40 minutes from the farm), and we are very
easy to get to. We are outside of the town of Platteville, Colorado at our new
"Wildcat Ranch" facility. (15 miles east of Longmont, Colorado, 4 miles east of I-25)

NEWSFLASH - Nov 26, 2006
- If timing and all goes well, there will be an additional 12-15 young
horses (weanlings, yearlings, and geldings) arriving to the farm from
England on around Dec 9 or 10th. If they are delayed, it might be
a few days later, BUT, if all goes as planned, they will be here ON THE
FARM sometime during the BIG WEEKEND! These are Vine's-bred horses
(fillies and colts), a few broke geldings, and stock from "Breeder Jim"
(another colt from the awesome stallion "Tid")!
- Overseas Gypsy
Breeders! A well-known gypsy breeder from overseas or two will be
making it to our big event to answer your questions "straight from the
horse's mouth!" We might even get a demo or two from them if we
ask nicely!
- NEWS - Nov 26,
2006 - We currently have 130 horses FOR SALE in the USA, and almost all
will be here in on the farm by Dec 1!
- Ever dreamed of
spending a night in a true gypsy living wagon? We will be having a
drawing (raffle tickets $5 each) to see who wins their romantic dream
night in our authentic, hand carved, legendary bowtop wagon!
Contact Jennifer for details. Singles or couples only please.
Live like true-gypsies! (hedgehogs not included, but we may be
able to snag you a prairie dog or two).

MARES OR 3 IN ONES
(Some of these foals may be weaned by sale time, but we might still
be able to do a deal on the pair if someone wants mother and foal)
NOTE: After all
the hub-bub about them, we STILL have 2 mares in foal to Flash the
Blagdon stallion that we brought to the USA a few months ago.
I believe flash is standing to a limited number of mares, so his
foals will be in demand! Get your "bun in the oven" now!
These are the only 2 available anywhere at the moment! See
Gemini and Wrigley.
